Last assignment for week one of EDIT 4520! This felt like such a long week, getting back into the groove of doing school work after work was tough. The workload for EDIT 4520 was definitely the hardest of the classes. The Instructional design and technology timeline took at the majority of the time I had available to dedicate to school work. As I was doing the assignment I was having a hard agreeing with its effectiveness and did not see how it re-enforced the reading material. Now that it is finished I can see the value in it, I feel comfortable and confident in my understanding of the history and definitions of instructional technology. The assignment relied heavily on close reading and even though I don't feel like I really put in every single piece of information I wanted in the timeline there was still a strong grasp of the readings.
As I was reading there was a few things that stuck out to me and I think are worth noting. First of all, the relationship between advancements in IDT has been parallel to the advancements in technology/ media. However, the advancement in IDT was always advancing with the new technology. In the present that is not the case, It really seems that technology is catering to the needs of education. Another aspect of the reading that was notable to me was the similarities of these readings' information to content I have received in past I/O psychology. The last thing I wanted to note was the expectations and outcomes, they seemed to have almost always have been wrong with every new advancement in the field. I hope they get it right when they stated the growing field of IDT.
