Post five!
How time has flown! I can not believe May is around the corner. There is so much to do! this week's main focus is our group project. This was the first group project in the MA program, and the first one I have had to do in a fully online program. Collaboration with one of my partners has been easy because we are both local and have met up in person for work sessions. collaborating with one of our other partners has not been so easy and the limitations of a fully online program have been more clear. I hope that this is a learning experience and I can handle/ manage a group project better in the future.
Our presentation is on Cognitive Learning Theory. It is actually an interesting theory that should be considered when creating activities or learning materials. The reason I like this theory is that it is a reminder that at the end of any design or lesson the student is the ultimate priority as it is based around the individual limitation a person has to process visual and audio information. In a way, it reminds me of technology and how hardware can "bottleneck" packet transfers. Sometimes even if you have a super fast fiber connection there is hardware that will limit the potential of transfer somewhere in the system. as an instructor designing within those limits is essential to have maximum learning and not overwhelm students
