I started this semester so nervous. I quickly realized my das advantage of lacking teaching experience in this field. However, now that the semester is finishing up I really feel like I notice the progression of my knowledge in instructional design. I remember the first time this came to me was when I was taking a face to face instructional class for my M1 license and our instructors would call us each by our first name. It is not a huge deal, but I remember making the connection to the class reading on how a conversational and personal approach can yield better results. I definitely do not feel like the ID padawan I felt like the first few weeks of the class.                 A combination of the intro to ID class and the others I took this semester gave me a good preview of the field and motivated me to keep working through this program after considering moving over to...

Lucky post number 7! after this weeks discussion topic on the use of external sites I have been thinking about the scenario presented since i did the discussion. technology has greatly facilitated the process of reaching larger numbers of people. In an academic setting there are certain expectations that the students are expected to uphold. However In the discussion I stated the instructor should have never let that happen. after for working in the school systems for about 10 years I know the amount of caution teachers and staff have to work with day in and day. It is hard to think that the growing facilities of technology might not be explored to their full potential because of fear of its repercussions.        Another big part of this week was the collaborative IDT project. My topic seemed easy enough in the beginning. I chose to develop a small face to face training simulation for parents of a low income school and doing a quick instruc...

I feel like a superstar! It is an interesting feeling producing and publishing a lot of content in the ending stages of the first semester of the EDIT program. I have been lucky enough to learn about so many new creative technologies and have had chances to use some in making logos, instructional screencast, and most recently podcasting.        I consider the assignments opportunities because working in technology the mentality of " I'm sure I can that out" is very prevalent. This takes a bit of motivation to explore resources like the ones I've had the chance to use in these classes. It has also been humbling and rewarding in the sense that there are definitely challenges to the processes of creating content, especially when you are not the "creative type".  I feel like by the end of the program at CSULA I might just be famous considering the amount of content we are publishing.

How time has flown! I can not believe May is around the corner. There is so much to do! this week's main focus is our group project. This was the first group project in the MA program, and the first one I have had to do in a fully online program. Collaboration with one of my partners has been easy because we are both local and have met up in person for work sessions. collaborating with one of our other partners has not been so easy and the limitations of a fully online program have been more clear. I hope that this is a learning experience and I can handle/ manage a group project better in the future.      Our presentation is on Cognitive Learning Theory. It is actually an interesting theory that should be considered when creating activities or learning materials.  The reason I like this theory is that it is a reminder that at the end of any design or lesson the student is the ultimate priority as it is based around the indivi...

I have always the type of person to really immerse myself in new research or new hobbies. I love learning about new things when they interest me. Even when shopping I will become a professional in any thinking I am considering purchasing, especially technology! Luckily for me, some of the classes are engaging and provide intrinsic motivation to get through the readings and activities. This module was very interesting about learning theories. The idea of learning about learning has always been so interesting to me.      The first thing I enjoyed reading about was the distinguishing of learning and development and changes in ability. It seems common sense after reading that they are different but it is not something that had actually crossed my mind before seeing it in the readings. I like reading about different learning theories but the one I liked the most was cognitive information processing theory. I am doing a project on this theory and...

I am a quiz wizard...a quizard...well not quite. This week was good in EDIT 4520!  This week's assignments included creating a quiz on google forms and readings centered around ID evaluations. Although I am not a teacher I do find that my I can easily adapt a lot fo the exercises and readings to my environment. I have used forms in the past but it was nice to repurpose them for something education related. I always enjoy seeing the versatility of technology.      These readings keep making me increasingly critical of my classes and instructional material in the workplace. I was making a quick Instructable powerpoint that I formatted as a PDF to send to a staff member on how to log in and check his employee email and found myself subconsciously making the efforts to incorporate techniques I have been learning in class. I was surprised since I did not realize I was doing it until after the fact. It is nice to see that the concepts are already applicable t...

I have to start by saying how lucky I feel to have an awesome first month back in school. Joining a masters program was a huge accomplishment for me because I doubted I was going to get accepted to any program. I can’t believe we are one month into the semester and having a much different experience that I thought I would have. Classes are taking up my almost all my spare time! However, it is almost always because I find myself getting sucked into the work and doing more research and readings related to the class material. The courses are truly invoking an intrinsic motivation to lead more about our field.      This week we had the assignment of looking up potential employment in our field of instructional design and it was genuinely a fun exercise. I got lost reading about all the possible position that an instructional designer is capable of, looking at some of the salaries was also motivating. I thought I was sure about the position I wanted to pur...
